Casas del Bosque
Casas del Bosque - Carmenere Reserva, Rapel Valley 2016
Casas del Bosque was founded in 1993 by Juan Cuneo Solari and was one of the first wineries in the Casablanca Valley, today it is still family owned and managed. The Solari’s have 245 hectares of vines in Santa Rosa on the west side of the Casablanca Valley. Plantings include Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Syrah, Carmenere and Pinot Noir all drip irrigated from subterranean wells. The Casas del Bosque philosophy is based on the constant search for excellence, quality instead of quantity is at the heart of their viticulture practices, as they strive to produce only the best wines possible. Sourced from a total of 4 different vineyards from within the Rapel region (Cachapoal and Colchagua Valleys) with a vine age averaging 25 years. Intensely violet in colour, on the nose this wine exhibits rich notes of black cherry, blueberry and fresh rosemary with just a hint of black pepper. In the mouth an initial attack of red plum, sweet tobacco and cinnamon gives way to just a touch of earthiness and ripe, red bell pepper. Ripe tannins and fresh acidity combine to give good balance and length.
